The US Open Tennis Tournament 2020 came to an end. In the men’s draw dramatic exit of Djokovic ensured that a new US Open Men’s Champion emerged. What makes this US Open unique is that this is the first tennis Grand Slam to be played without a crowd. Over a fortnight I watched a few matches live, and in every match, I heard commentators talking about how the players were missing the crowd, especially those who draw a lot of energy from the crowd response. Arthur Ashe stadium is one of the noisiest stadiums, and with a closed roof, the decibels could be of unimaginable levels. This year, in contrast, the silence was the companion of tennis players.
