PR Parables to open up lessons from PR community
PR parables was an outcome of a gentle yet persistent nudge from a young fellow colleague at work. Thanks to her and to all of you readers and well wishers, willy nilly, I ended up sharing my life's PR stories and the lessons I learnt . We learnt. Learning through lessons in life is always memorable and I think it is a lot of fun too.

Public Relations demands original strategies on specific cases
Public Relations has come a long way ever since the first Press Release was issued on October 28, 1906 and has emerged as a specialist’s job much as a doctor who prescribes medicines for his patients and lawyers who file petitions on behalf of their clients. The first Press Release was issued this week in 1906 – on October 28, to be precise and thus began public relations or media relations. New York Times was so impressed with the release sent out by Ivy Lee on a railway accident that it carried the story verbatim! PR has come a long way ever since and now continues to evolve as technology pervades us. With this evolution, client and boss expectations are also bound to change. But development of professionalism in PR, like in any other field, is a time-consuming process. One should not expect changes overnight. As Mahatma Gandhi said, Be the change that you want to see in the world. We PR practitioners must be the change engines.

Take a beat and use this scorecard to evaluate your in-house function
I was delighted to attend ICCOs international PR conference in Helsinki a couple of weeks back. I've never been a huge fan of conference reviews type articles so I'll spare you and I that! That said, one of the standout sessions for me at ICCO was from Ketchum’s Rob Flaherty. Rob has asked a couple of his biggest PR firm competitors how they were doing on their road to integrated communications and he presented the results of this research.

Weber Shandwick Wins Global Agency Of The Year 2017
Weber Shandwick was named Global Agency of the Year in Miami last night, following an unprecedented clean sweep of the Holmes Report’s regional Agency of the Year honours in 2017. Weber Shandwick, which was previously named Global Agency of the Year in 2015 and 2014, had already won Agency of the Year honours in North America, EMEA and Asia-Pacific this year. So, while last night’s coronation was unsurprising, it remains a remarkable achievement.

Communication plays an important role in company’s value proposition
As I concluded my week-long induction program at Reverie Language Technologies I was deeply moved and stirred by Reverie’s vision to bring Language Equality on the Internet™ and how it breathed through the company’s value proposition for our patrons and the citizens of our country. Literally, Reverie means a trance but I have only witnessed the Indian internet re-imagined with our team’s passion and unbeatable perseverance.
Indian companies have a different view on understanding brand purpose
Most urban working Indians (unless you have been living under the proverbial rock!) have an opinion on Infosys and the Tata Group. Which is why, the very public founder/promoter - CEO spats were such a shock to the public. It went against the values of trust, reliability, efficiency and ethics that both companies stood for, its' brand purpose. In today’s business environment, where reputations can be built and torn down in a 24-hour social media cycle, brand purpose is what can define a company’s long term image in a crisis. And it’s easy too take the eye off the ball.
