Our EMEA Innovation Summit on 23 May proved to be one of our best conferences yet, blending some highly-charged lightning talks with heavyweight panels to deliver plenty of thought-provoking insight during the half-day event, in front of a packed auditorium at London's Ham Yard Hotel. All of that meant there was a lot of information to process. So, as always, here are five lessons that we have distilled from the event, all of which revolved around the idea that people — rather than companies, processes or even algorithms — remain the most important currency for an industry in the throes of fundamental disruption.

Publicis, Saatchi, MSL, Leo Burnett win combined victory
The team will be based out of Saatchi & Saatchi London's office in London's Chancery Lane, which is also a campus for the "interdependent model" Publicis Groupe launched with its strategic restructure at the end of 2015. Led by Carol Miller-Repetto, chief operating officer of Saatchi & Saatchi's P&G group, the newly-formed team will work on a list of brands that includes Pampers, Head & Shoulders, Aussie, Ariel, Daz, Fairy, Oral-B, Flash, Vicks and Tampax.

Dentsu India bags creative mandate for Toonz Retail India
Toonz Retail India, a kids store, has appointed Dentsu India, a full-service creative agency from Dentsu Aegis Network, as its creative agency. The agency will be responsible for the complete creative mandate of Toonz and will be working out of its Mumbai office. As per the mandate, the agency will be ideating and developing the brand campaign along with designing the creative of the brand's tactical campaigns throughout the year.

Wasabi Publicity and Dr. Jeanne Hurlbert of Hurlbert Consulting surveyed more than 250 journalists to understand what they look for when choosing whom and what to cover. In terms of PR’s climate, things have certainly changed over the years. Wasabi Chief Creative Officer Michelle Tennant sums up the shift: “I’ve seen PR go from typewriters to Twitter.”

SACAC gets a brand new course dedicated to Ad and PR
Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication aka SACAC is a unit of Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry, an internationally-reputed organization working for social transformation through activities in education, health, research, livelihood generation, arts and culture. In 2003, SACAC began as an autonomous non-profit institute for creative learning in media arts and communication. 13 years ago, SACAC made a humble beginning as a small mass communication institute in New Delhi with 25 students. Today, its alumni comprises of 800 art, media and communication professionals. Havas integrates Sorento for APAC pharma expansion
Havas Group is expanding its footprint in the burgeoning Indian market by adding Sorento to its roster of agencies. Sorento will integrate the Havas Health & You business unit and will be rebranded as Havas Life Sorento.
