Some of the great Agencies being nominated for the Best Agency to Work For
There’s a pattern that we’ve observed at the Holmes Report that illustrates why being a Best Agency to Work For carries so much significance. Largely, because there is a direct correlation between the agencies on this list and those that take home top honours as Consultancies of the Year. And that's because firms that take culture seriously tend to attract and retain smart and creative talent who, in turn, produce stellar work that underpins great agencies.
Deloitte India appoints Avian Media for its PR mandate
Avian Media has won the mandate for one of the biggest PR accounts in the country- Deloitte India. Deloitte released RFPs for public relations firms in April 2017. At that time Deloitte's work was handled by Integral PR, the move for RFPs took place after the exit of Sharif Rangnekar as chairman and CEO of Integral in January 2017. It is believed that Avian won the final round over Weber Shandwick India. This marquee win for Avian comes close on the heels of the PR firm getting the PR mandate for aircraft engine giant, Pratt and Whitney India.

Zee appoints Genesis Burson-Marsteller for its PR mandate
The winds of change are blowing at Zee Entertainment. The network has appointed two agencies – Publicis India and Lowe Lintas – to spearhead its creative duties. So while Lowe Lintas will handle the Zee Corporate brand amongst others, Publicis has on its plate the flagship Zee TV in its kitty along with a slew of others channels. Meanwhile, although the channel has not made any official announcements, the WPP-owned Genesis Burson-Marsteller will be handling its public relations mandate.

Indian PR pioneer and Genesis Burson-Marsteller founder Prema Sagar will be honoured with the Individual Achievement SABRE Award in Hong Kong on 14 September, at the seventh edition of the Asia-Pacific SABRE Awards. Sagar receives the award as GBM celebrates its 25th anniversary. Founded as one of the India's first PR consultancies, GBM remains as relevant as ever, even as other firms have fallen by the wayside. Sagar explored the firm's history and progress in a recent Echo Chamber podcast, which also highlighted the high proportion of Indian industry leaders that began their careers at GBM.

PR Professionals need to refrain from stuffing up on unnecessary research
At the beginning of my career in Public Relations, in Europe, market research was considered the ‘Swiss Army Knife’ of PR tools; whatever the predicament, third party research could always be employed to save the day. Want to create a market for a new product category? 9 out of 10 teenagers confess to missing school or college because of acne . Want to enter a new market? 89% of Peruvians feels taxi services are over-priced in Lima . Want to change a Government policy? 76% of first-time voters in France view bureaucracy as the number one barrier facing entrepreneurs. All conclusions presented “according to research conducted by (insert name of ‘independent’ market research firm . .” Look at the small print and you’d invariably find that the organisation commissioning the report is identical to the whose logo appeared on the press release!

Election Commission of India to form a new policy regarding PR
With public relations (PR) firms being used by political parties to shape public opinion online, the Election Commission (EC) is formulating a social media policy to address the issue. The use of PR firms to shape public opinion on the social media was flagged by election commissioner O.P. Rawat. “It has come to the notice of the commission that paid operators run by PR firms are being actively deployed to shape public opinion online,” he said. With increasing spread of mobile Internet technology, the influence of social media was also increasing and it was high time that it was recognised as media and its content was monitored, he added.
