Hindi print media has 50.7% more reach than TV in Bihar
The myth, ‘Print is a dying medium’ is busted in the state of Bihar where print enjoys more reach than cable or satellite TV. The literacy rate in Bihar is comparatively low, yet it has managed print penetration than TV broadcast. This probably is the first time a couple of competing newspapers have come together to put out joint advertisements against another mainstream medium, albeit a competitor to both, the television. The ads in context have been jointly rolled out by Hindi news dailies, Hindustan and Dainik Bhaskar. The communication boasts of the Hindi print media's overall reach in the state of Bihar, which, according to figures, is 50.7 percent higher than that of cable and satellite TV.

Republic TV maintains its hold on BARC leader board for week 42 in English news category
Aaj Tak maintained its lead among every Hindi news genre for yet another week. Zee News has toppled down from the top five positions of the leader board in the Hindi news (rural) genre. However, News Nations makes its way among the top five in the Hindi news category (rural). In the English news category, Times Now retains the second position with CNN News18 at the third and India Today Television and NDTV 24X7 at the fourth and fifth places, respectively. In the English business news category, CNBC TV18 keeps its hold of the top rank. ET Now and BTVI maintained the second and the third position, respectively.
Music Broadcast Ltd has recorded a growth of 5% in net profits for Q2 FY 19
FM radio station Radio City’s parent company Music Broadcast Limited (MBL) has posted a 5% growth in net profit at Rs 13.4 crore in Q2 FY19 compared to Rs 12.7 crore in Q2 FY18. The PAT margin stands 16.7% compared to 16.8% a year ago. The company’s revenue has jumped 6% to Rs 80.1 crore from Rs 75.8 crore in the previous fiscal. MBL Director Apurva Purohit said, “In this challenging economy which has uncertain economic growth and an increasing liquidity crunch, I’m pleased to inform that our performance was encouraging and we were able to show a topline growth of 7% which is equally contributed by volumes and realizations. Key Sectors like government, real estate and durables performed better than last year.”
